How air-to-air works
One system for the whole year
An air-to-air heat pump has two parts: an outdoor unit that collects heat from the outside air, and a slim indoor unit that releases it into the room as warm air. It moves heat rather than burning fuel to make it.

Heating in winter
Even on cold days there is heat in the outside air. The outdoor unit collects it and the indoor unit spreads it through the room.

The same system runs in reverse, taking heat out of the room so it stays comfortable, just like air conditioning.

How air-to-air heating works

1. Outdoor air
The outdoor unit draws in outside air, even on cold winter days.

The heat pump takes the heat energy out of that air.

3. Compress & transfer
A compressor raises the temperature, and the heat travels indoors through slim pipes.

The indoor unit releases warm, comfortable air into your room.
In summer the same system works in reverse: it takes heat out of your room and releases it outside.
